That’s a tough loss.

Yes, it is a tough loss.

The Hoyas are big and physical down low. Credit to them.

Too much Carter for this game. A glimpse of KyKy if he stays at Xavier.

Befuddling inconsistently.

Hope this one doesnt come back to haunt ya Dash... this game showed off what many expected from Tandy, kid is a scorer. I have no idea why he has been in Steele's doghouse. Must be lack of D or issues in practice, but he can create. Jones is going to be special, Odom too, especially if he develops a jumper. I dont get the love affair with Carter. Best team on the floor was 4 out with Freemantle. Weren't going to win the inside battle with or without carter, better to force them to chase and it almost worked---too little too late. Nice young core there.

Chap. - you just summarized what everyone on our board is thinking.

I just hope we don’t lose KyKy.

Steele needs to improve and take ownership of his decisioning.

Tandy was consistently week-to-week one of the worst performers in practice and his defense was basically nonexistent after Kunkel became eligible and he lost major minutes, but he has turned that around recently. Carter earns a lot of minutes because he provides defense and rebounding on a team lacking in those departments. Essentially, it's a high marginal value that offsets the minimal offensive value. If other guys showed more promise there, he wouldn't be relied on as much. Overall, Carter has also earned Steele's trust when some of the other guys haven't until recently.

Wilcher was great in this game, providing some good rebounding for a change and not being bad on defense (though his defense was still a dropoff from the norm established by Carter). Tandy was super active and aware on defense in a way we didn't see much earlier in the season. Overall, I think Steele's threshold for trust might be a bit high, and he should have at least trust these dudes for more minutes in the Butler and Providence games, but I get not leaning on them as much before that. If Wilcher can continue to provide rebounding close to the level he did in this game, the team doesnt lean on Carter as much at the 4, though defense would still be an issue. Without Johnson available anymore, the opportunity is there for Tandy, but he has to continue to be active and focused on the defensive end.
