Speaking of targets. I have predicted that Zeg and Gillespie would struggle to match their previous numbers, as BEast defenses focus on them as main targets. The preseason accolades were deserving but not realistic for either guy.

I am very comfortable in predicting that neither of the two will be BE POY.

If there was a bet out there of Z & Gillespie or the field for BE POY, I'd take action on the former. Each are going to have nights where things just don't fall the way they usually do (like Z last night). But in both cases those two are so involved in how each team's offense runs, even the best defensive efforts are going to be futile most nights. The other consideration is where your team finishes up. If it's a 2 team race for the BE Championship between CU and Nova, then one of those 2 are winning it. If MU, UConn, SHU or PC win the league, then players like Carton, Bouknight, Mamu and Duke will be in the conversations.

Lastly in his first BE game, Gillespie only put up 18 pts, 6 rebs, 5 assists and 2 steals. If that is considered pedestrian, then I guess he may struggle to get accolades this year.

Great job by Marquette. They outplayed the Jays. Creighton looked very vulnerable on defense. The way Marquette played against UCLA, I didn't expect this type of game from them, but they outhustled Creighton. Carton looked every bit the player people expected him to be when he transferred!

Yep. Carton is looking like the Top 50 recruit he was. They outhustled the Jays. Creighton really needs to fix their shitty FT shooting. Poor FT cost them in both losses. Fix the weaknesses.
Yes it's early, but ol' gtmo suddenly doesn't seem as crazy with his betting on the Warrior/GE's. Wojo's got a contender in John, Elliott, Lewis, Garcia, Carton, and McEwen. Go GE's!

Yep...it's early, but in a crazy, patchwork season...anything is possible. Just tweeted Fanta and Nyatawa to remind them of Carton... ;) Hey Jack. Keep watching.

I posted that BE POY question in another thread. The 2 preason darlings vs the field OR a Nova player vs the field. It's looking like the Nova vs field has better odds, but if Gillespie gets it you win both bets.

Both Zeg and Gillespie will certainly be right there when all is said and done, but I have a strong hunch that Ballock will end up the conference leader in scoring and your own JRE will post overall numbers that will be undeniable. On top of that expect a handful of other guys, that are now on the radar, to really surprise.....It's a long shot but a super soph could make things interesting.

BTW- You are correct. Top players from teams finishing at the very top hold a distinct edge.
