It's one thing to be 3-6 or whatever but to almost always start off 0-5, 1-6, 0-11, etc. it really wears on you a lot. I thought we would make the next step after Lavin from mid pack to upper half. But we have crashed to the ground and been in the basement since then. We will need to recruit a lot better than we have been if we want any chance.

Well the truthful part of the jab is that SJU's relationship with MSG is a major asset to the Big East, but SJU has certainly earned their keep on the court as well - even if recent results have been disappointing. I really do think MA will turn them around. I don't know that he's the guy to get them to final four/national championship level, but I do think he can consistently get them in the tournament and winning a game or 2 every time. I don't think his system is conducive to long tournament runs (though he does have an elite 8 on his resume) because he's going to wear his own guys out playing multiple games in a short time frame, but it is often good for a win or 2 since that same system is tough to prepare for, especially on that short turnaround (he's won a game in 6 of his 9 tournament appearances).
I hope he gets it done because I really want to see SHU-SJU top 25 games on a consistent basis. That's the best way to keep the blue bloods from coming in and stealing our top nyc/nj recruits.
