I believe they have a powerhouse lacrosse team that competes in the Big East.

They are in Lacrosse but Hockey East has always been somewhat parallel associated with the BE. Both created by Providence College Coaches/Athletic Directors. In Hockey's case Lou Lamoriello.

I know hockey and the Frozen Four is a huge deal ( i think the city of Cincinnati hosted one not that many years ago). I'm curious how hockey and basketball compare with each other for the Friar Faithful as far as interest and passion?

Basketball is by far the top dog at Providence.
Hockey is respected and all, but hoops is #1.
